[\/vc_cta][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]To increase public support, long-term stewardship, and sustainable use of national marine sanctuaries, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation created the <\/span>Sanctuary Community Fund.\u00a0<\/span><\/b>This fund\u00a0invests\u00a0directly in community partner engagement so that the heart of sanctuaries \u2013 the peoples, places, customs, and cultures \u2013 can help advance science and ways of knowing, stewardship, and outreach within the sanctuary community and beyond.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the<\/span>\u00a0Sanctuary Community Fund<\/span><\/b>, the Foundation will\u00a0support the discovery, testing, piloting, nurturing, capacity, and spread of the best ideas to protect our ocean and Great Lakes.\u00a0Our national marine sanctuaries\u00a0are ideal places to focus attention and efforts to\u00a0advance\u00a0the\u00a0health and prosperity\u00a0of\u00a0communities connected to the ocean, coasts, and Great Lakes and for the whole country. As our Nation\u2019s network of\u00a018 unique marine environments\u00a0centered in community-based, comprehensive ecosystem management, these are key opportunities to increase engagement with\u00a0national\u00a0marine\u00a0sanctuary\u00a0communities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Foundation\u00a0aims to\u00a0leverage\u00a0this\u00a0funding to seek complementary private investment in the Sanctuary Community Fund, to create a collaborative impact model that\u00a0utilizes\u00a0the power of public-private partnership to solve the biggest challenges facing our National Marine Sanctuary System and its watersheds.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text]

HOW TO PARTICIPATE<\/span><\/h2>\n

This\u00a0round of grants will support community partners who want to\u00a0raise awareness, increase access, and\u00a0support community learning\u00a0about\u00a0recently\u00a0designated\u00a0national marine\u00a0sanctuaries,\u00a0but do not have the resources to do so.\u00a0Partners in communities serving sanctuaries\u00a0designated\u00a0by NOAA after June 1,\u00a02024,\u00a0will be eligible to apply. This includes:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
